1933 Chrysler at the Montery Mecum Auto Auction Aur14-16

Recommended Posts

Dep5 is correct. A 1933 Chrysler Imperial CQ is a revamped and "upgraded" 32 Chrysler CP. Nice cars but not what these guys are describing. This car has the smaller straight 8 not the 9 main bearing big engine of the CG,CH, CL or CL* marques. Beautifully done in the photos and worthy IMHO of good press, it is not a Classic according to CCCA nor does it fit other than name in the Imperial class of the early 30's. Clearly a money/budget move on Chrysler's part originally, well built and remarkable cars, but not any different mechanically than a regular Chrysler 8. Of course to get into opinions all Auburn 8's are CCCA Classics.......

Dave, Thanks, I was curious about what it would bring. Tho I am sorry that they are beginning to bring out of my reach money, I am glad as I have felt for years these era Chrysler's were not appreciated and more common but popular cars brought alot more $$. Were the other early Chrysler's at this auction part of the Norm Frey Collection? How did they do?

Thanks, ROb
