DAVE A
Here's a couple of pictures from the Austin, Pa. Flood of 1911 . My family and I visited there last weekend and I found these two of cars that were in the flood. Anyone want to take a stab at identifying them??? 30DodgePanel
Dave A., looking through that database of photos I seen some very interesting shots of that flood event. I'm no civil engineer but when viewing that landscape it amazes me that they built in that valley to begin with.... that thing has flood plain written all over it ! What a shame for those that had to encounter the event but it sure seemed uncalled for from what I could tell. Still neat to see the old photos, it really gives you an idea of the power of that event.
Hudsy Wudsy
I know that this was a great tragedy for many people. Nevertheless, my thought when I saw the first picture with the piano in it, along with the wrecked car and piles of debris, was that it looked like the last scene out of a Laurel and Hardy movie.
