More Road wheel craziness

I picked up a set of road wheels yesterday. They are 15 X 6, 5 on 5, and have a code JJ. They have the small valve stem holes. Sadly they don't fit my car (Hub clearance is too small). I'm guessing 71 and up. The chrome is not terrible. Can anyone tell what they are? Or need them?

I cannot help with the date code but in the future look for the wheel on the bottom to fit your 64 or a 64-67 1/2.

Note the later model (top) is squared off to clear disc brakes, the earlier wheel (bottom pic) is angled.

I have two 65 wheels both have a letter with a small 5 inside the letter for the month and the 5 for 65.

Question: are there any other stampings to the right of the picture you provided? A poke in the dark is the M 4 G meaning April 1967. April would be well into the production year when disc brakes became available.

Good guess, 2" dia hole for a centre cap, and no hub centering ring on the backside !!

They look to be in pretty decent shape paint, and chrome wise, from the pic you posted - you shouldn't have any problem finding a new owner if they are all in the same condition.

If you search the ROA's Tech Tips and look at the chart accompanying the article on the wheels, you'd see that the JJ is the code for the 71 - 78 wheels. Tons of instantaneous information for ROA members.

*JJ is the bead type as compared to L for all of the other Buick rally wheels.

*The code number for 71 - 78 is 895,

*There is no register ring,

*The center hole (not cap) is 3",

*The back spacing is 3-7/8"

*The center cap hole is 2".

The pictures you posted in post #1 confirm that these are definitely the 71 - 78 wheels.

You can also confirm this in one easy step. Lay a straight edge across the center cap hole. If the straight edge is higher than the rim, the wheels are code # 895 and fit all the other criteria. This is all your really need to do to ID 71 - 78 wheels.

The 64, 65, 66 - 67-1/2, and 67-1/2 - 70 are much more difficult.

Kaber pull a tape on a center cap hole (burn an inch) so I can sleep tonight.

1977 would explain the very nice condition and the G for 1977 (not 1967).
