I had my exhaust system replaced at a custom exhaust system dealer.

Within a day it started running ruff and a day after that my dash (not the computer screen) which was working perfectly until then started going wacko. Yes wacko! The clock. speedometer, any of the read outs of the dash. Then it would show 00 miles per hour, no clock, my defrost would jump to high and then shut off. No control of any heating/cooling. My mechanic believes that they shorted out the computer. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks RS

They should have disconnected the battery. Sometimes a car will reset if you disconnect the battery for a bit of time and then reconnect it. However I don't believe the disconnect/reconnect will work as the car ran good and got worse.

On my Black the previous owner swapped out the alternator w/o disconnecting the battery and had a big arc. Burned an ignition wire and caused issues with my RKE [remote key entry].

First off, Welcome!!!:)

i am not a electronics guru but any means, others here are and will give you proper guidance...

i wonder - if they were welding with a ground attached to the vehicle- and did NOT disconnect the battery ground wire - that may have something to do with the problem.

i would probably disconnect the ground connection for a couple of minutes, then reattach.

if nothing happens, check your codes: http://reattaowner.com/roj/repair-information/computer-diagnostic-codes/how-to-access-trouble-codes

write any codes showing, then check here: http://reattaowner.com/roj/repair-information/computer-diagnostic-codes/bcm-a-crt-diagnostic-codes

and here: http://reattaowner.com/roj/repair-information/computer-diagnostic-codes/ecm-diagnostic-codes

it certainly could be related to welding, but i've had several unrelated problems develop within a day or two.:(

Good luck!!!

EDIT: Dave beat me to it! i really need to type faster, ha!
