Hello everybody, I am in search of a few parts for a 1924 Studebaker Special Six “EL”. Robert Kapteyn had a extra parts catalogue I was able to purchase, thanks again, Robert! It really helped out in locating the proper part #'s. Unfortunately Studebaker parts int. did not have any of the following parts. I posted a few pictures of the project, including the motor so you can see some of the parts that are missing.

If anyone has these parts, or knows of any place i can locate them i will really appreciate it, thanks in advanced, John

Rear Double flanged hub (would prefer one with a brake drum but can get an extra drum if hub is by its self)

Radiator cap for motometer P/N 106169

Wood Steering wheel P/N 105148

Gas tank

Cowl lights and backing plate

Hello every body, I am in search of several parts for a 1924 Studebaker Special Six “EL”. Robert Kapteyn had a extra parts catalogue I was able to purchase, thanks again, Robert! One thing you may notice is the intake manifold was cut and re-welded and made to support a downdraft carburetor. Why this was done I am not sure, since I am hoping to make this project as original as possible I am looking to replace the intake manifold to the original updraft manifold.

If anyone has these parts, or knows of any place i can locate them i will really appreciate it, thanks in advanced, John

I have a tail-light, posted here, which seems to be the right vintage. In fact, I have two. The one with the "STUDEBAKER" & "STOP" is spoken for, but I still have the other. I have several unknown tail lights. Do you have a picture of what you need ?

Thank you.

Hi Frank,

I will be going down to S. California to take a look at a bunch of Studebaker parts in a few weeks, I believe I have a fan already waiting for me down there, if not I will send you a message. The welds on the intake are hard to see but yes, the previous owner cut the intake and re-welded it upside down.

I think I have a steering wheel and perhaps some gauges. If someone has a picture of a Special Six dashboard they could post that would be very helpful.

post-100983-143142662903_thumb.jpg Hi Scott, thanks for the reply. I took a look on Google and the first two pictures is what I found. I am sure they have been refurbished, they look new. I have the gauge sizes it you would like me to post them. The third picture is of my steering wheel. It needs alot of help :-\

Hi John,

Looks like my steering wheel is the wrong one as it is only 17in diameter and has the wrong hub but I did find a few other parts. Some of the gauages will need rebuilt and you'll need to find handles for the switch (I think I have a lead for those). Send me an email and let me know what you might be interested in.

Hi Robert,

Yes both the same, It is the special six, post #7 is just after the body was taken off so we could pressure wash and start cleaning the frame and drive train up. Here is a side picture from when the body was still on.

Thank you all for helping track down all those parts!

There are two items left that I would like to replace, if anyone happens to come across them, I would be interested.

Does anybody know of a good, affordable nickel plating shop they could recommend. I am looking to have my radiator cover, and a few other small parts re-plated. A local outfit in N. California is asking an arm and a leg.....

Hi John,

I think the high cost of nickel plating is common across states.....I had to give my left foot and pancreas to get my gauge and light bezels done. I have 24 lug nuts along with a few odds and ends to still get done so I thought I would try a kit from Caswell and see how that goes http://www.caswellplating.com/electroplating-anodizing/nickel-plating-kits.html. Might be tough to do a whole radiator shell though.

Hi Hank22: Just checking in on the ASC forum and I find your list of parts needed. I have two '23's, one finished and one under re-construction. I have collected quite a few parts for this vintage of Stude and have some of what you are looking for. Specifically, a fan and bracket, enough inside and outside door handles, the upper throttle control lever and cover for steering wheel controls, intake manifold and one solid Budd wheel missing the lock ring.

I live in northern Nevada so not too far of a trip. You may call me at, 775 778-9800 if interested.

post-100983-143142789317_thumb.jpgLooking to buy/ trade parts for a rear double flanged hub and drum for the '24 special six. I have one, but am looking for one more so I don't have to go to town on three wheels. I will attach a photo of what it looks like.

Pictured is the left side double flanged hub. Studebaker & other models of the era apparently put left hand thread on the left side hub and right hand threaded nuts on the right side so the lug nuts did not loosen up.

Hi John,

I see the car as purchased had wood spoked wheels. The hub flange you have shown are for disc wheels. So I assume you are switching to disc wheels? If you do find parts, I wouldn't get hung up on right side vs left, buy what you can. I have enough of the R and L lugnuts for the disc wheels (and a couple different types) to get you rolling.

Yes, we are switching over to disc wheels. Just got a set a few weeks ago, in good shape. We have both front hubs, and one hub for the rear. I will keep you in mind Scott if we need to change the studs out.

I have four Kelsey Hayes 23" wood spoke rims, but just one split rim. Sorry I don't have the 20" you are looking for. I am interested in selling the four 23" I do have.post-100983-143142794624_thumb.jpg
