keiser31
Is there a diamond on the back with a name? That one looks like an aftermarket copy. Originals were pot metal and looked more detailed like this one....with feather details on the inner parts of the wings. Bill Harmatuk
I quit bidding, not long ago, on a used, 1930 Chrysler cap. I kick myself in the butt, now, for not having a show down with the other bidder.Really don't need another 30 Chrysler cap but I would love to have a spare for every day use.My good / new one is in the china cabinet.!50.00 is a good buy.Bill H

I can't read the name.I am surprised that this is a copy. I have had it for many years and it sure has it's worth of patina.Thank you, mikeburch Edited July 21, 2014 by mikeburch (see edit history)
keiser31
I certainly could be wrong about the brass one not being an original. I would be interested in learning more about that one.
28 Chrysler
1928 Chrysler caps did not have feathers on the inside of the wings. There were 2 sizes the common 2" and the less common 1 7/8" for 19281924-27 have the feathers on both sides, 29 / 30 had the low profile wings.I have nickle plated brass versions of both types of the early caps for my 1926 70 and my 1928 62. I couldn't see how this cap could be new, with so much patina. I even cleaned it some for the camera.Mine seems to measure the 2".Thanks again, mikeburch

I do mail to Canada.Thank you, mikeburchThank you Mike!Car is in storage. Will try to go by there today and measure the neck on the rad. Do you have any more pics of the cap. Sorry, fairly new to the antique car thing. Just want to make sure I am buying the right thing. The one I have on the car now is pot metal but looks very much like the one you have pictured. Unfortunately it is quite cracked and about ready to break apart. Would the threads on the cap be the same on all of the older Chryslers?
Guest mikeburch
CHASE01 ...........................I just measured the threads on mine and they just might be the 1 7/8" size. If you have a 1928 model, it would be the correct cap for you. You would be able to return it to me, if it did not fit. I will guarantee it for you.Thank you, mikeburch
