I would say, and you may already know, that ebay is way to go for a maximum price result, and in finding the market for the car. This forum probably is not the place for a quick result at maximum income. Advertising it in the CNB would also yield a sale, but unsure your $15,000 objective will be met.

Not sure what it worth, I know several people are asking $5000 in Canada for car that are very incorrect in many ways. at any think less than 10,000 it better to part it has to many hard to find parts, bumper guard correct senior 42 tailights. door handles.

Let say I take 12,500 now.

If you tried to part it out it would take you a very long time to reach your goal of $10K, probably way longer than what the IRS will want to wait. If the IRS gets impatient you may lose far more than what you need to give them. Then they just take what they want and you may end up losing things you did not want to sell.

You should take any good offer that is given you in good faith. I am not very far from you and if I had the room for such a car, I would make you a very good offer.

I wish I could take this off your hands as I've always wanted a '42 Packard and my workshop is in Oregon not too far from you. Unfortunately I cannot but I wish you the best of luck! Maybe it would help if your threw in one of your reproduction A/C units.

If you sold the car for $10,000 the IRS would count the sale as personal income and want a cut of $4,000 or so. There are some interesting nuances to selling an old car these days.

Not unless the buyer pays cash.

What interesting is: I originally paid $11500 for it back 1989, but how does one document that and all the upgrades as well. Probably closer $15,000 in over the years. It actually a loss from the orginal purchase, a wash would be better.

I parting the started parting the 1940 160, and my other 42 seven passenger sedan on ebay now, plus I sold my personnel 50's emblems and scripts. all NOS. many were still in Packard envelopes.

My wife said I should of save at least one of each, It time to cut loose. I am 65: it just too late to start over. probably a trailer to Hershey, if I do not find a job before them.

Either take the car, or 50's teardrop project trailer. If i get it cleaned up i sleep in it.

I think you understood what meant. Damn the English language, why can't it be like other European languages? I get into so much trouble unintentionally thinking while using the grammar structures of some other languages.

Here is the 42 shipping info from Packard Service Letter Vol 15 #17 issued Sept 1, 1941. That issue contains the entire mechanical specs for the 42 cars so if you want that info you can download the letter from packardinfo.com
