1956 Chevrolet Nomad. This is likely to be one of the finest restored Nomads in existence. This car was built in May of 1956 and sold new in Florida. It remained in Florida until 1973 when it was purchased by the current and third owner from the second owner. When it was purchased in 1973, it was an excellent original car, showing no signs of damage, repair, neglect or rust. The current owner kept it in excellent original condition until about 2006 when he embarked on a no expense spared, frame off restoration to show quality standards. The restoration included a full rebuilt of the engine, transmission, front end, rear end, brakes, steering, etc to insure that the vehicle would not only look great but would be a reliable driver as well. Since the completion of the restoration, the car was driven from Ontario, Canada to the 2010 Nomad National meet in South Dakota where it received the award for the best restored 1956 as well as winning best body and paint from a field of nearly 150 cars. In 2011, the car was driven once again to Dayton, Ohio Nomad National where it again won Best 1956 and Best Body and Paint awards. The car has been a repeated award winner at numerous other car shows and concours in the midwest. The vehicle was restored to exacting original standards including the proper materials, original color combination (Pine Crest Green and India Ivory) Since the completion of the restoration, the car has been driven approximately 8,700 trouble free miles. To make the vehicle a more reliable driver, a period correct GM dual exhaust was added as well as a period correct four barrel carburetor, however, the original units have been restored and could be put back on the car if desired. The rear end ratio was changed to 3:08 for easy highway cruising and radial tires were added. It also has been retro-fitted with a Vintage Air air conditioning system which was installed without any additional modifications, holes, etc. From the factory, it is a well equipped car with an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, EZI glass, electric wipers and washers, dual outside mirrors, AM radio, parking brake warning light, wire wheel covers, etc.

Today, this vehicle needs nothing. The paint, upholstery, chrome, etc are as new. The chassis and engine bay have been detailed to near perfection. It runs and drives like a new car and could easily be driven cross country and back. Included with the car extensive photo documentation of the restoration which shows the condition of the car before restoration, original Chevrolet literature, title documentation from the former owners and misc. small parts.

The asking price which is significantly less than the cost of the restoration is 79,500.00 but all offers will be considered. The car is located just outside of Detroit, Michigan in Windsor, Ontario and the seller will be responsible for all import and customs fees and transporting cost to get the car into the US (Detroit area).
