1926 Model T Touring ASGN

Recommended Posts

Before I come to my senses I am offering my 1926 Ford Model T Touring for sale. Without a doubt, it is currently the best restored ’26 Touring in the world.AACA Senior Grand National winner, MTFCI Stynnowski award in 2006, multipleclass awards including Meadowbrook Concours, Willistead Concours, Old CarFestival and Best of Show at Hoosier Auto Show. Cover car Antique Automobile with an accompanying feature article. Runs and drives better than it looks. Needs nothing. New coils, battery, generator and timer this season. Currently the car has the green wheels and black radiator shell installed and has a matching (and correct) stripe along the tops to the doors. I can provide the nickel radiator shell if you prefer it. Drive and show with pride. Selling onlybecause another project beckons. Asking significantly less than restoration costs.$18,500.00. Sorry, no trades. It would not be on the market if the other car had not come along. Eric Macleod 269-420-3852. ewmacleod@hotmail.com

Beautiful car. I'm just curious about the black radiator shell - why did you replace the nickel one? Also, why did you change the color of the rims to green? I'm no expert in Model T's - just trying to learn something about them before I buy one.

Hi Doug,

The changes were in part to address authenticity issues and in part to match my own preference. To the first issue, I could find little evidence to support the presence of a nickel radiator shell on an early '26 Model T Touring (an "improved Ford" built late October 1925, as a '26 model year car) so after I had shown the car a couple times (and got an AACA 1st Senior) I located, restored and installed a more correct steel shell. Once I was done competitively showing the car I intended to put the nickel shell back on. I got used to the look of the car with the black radiator shell and find I really prefer it, so it has a black shell now. The nickel shell hangs in my garage awaiting installation on one of my other cars. As for the wheels, there was a memo from Ford Motor Company dated October 15, 1925 that said (I am paraphrasing here) to begin offering wire wheels in black to customers. Alternately, if they wanted them painted any of the following colors: Vermillion (red), Casino Red (orange), Straw (cream) or Emerald Green (the apple green you see on my car) apply paint supplied by Ford with a brush in one coat. Stripe the body to match. I could not bring myself to paint the wheels with a brush as directed by Ford but really liked the green. Given that it was factory authorized I painted them. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I appreciate the question.

Eric
