1930 Commander Speedometer Cable

Recommended Posts

Very strange! My 1929-40 Master Chassis Parts Catalog shows the cable shaft and core for FD/FE/FH models as 150991, length 69-1/4". Since the number seemed older than the other cable numbers in the list, I checked the 1925-1928-1/2 book. Sure enough, the cable number 150991 is shown there in the numerical index at the back of Section 2, but the Instruments section doesn't show the speedometer or cable, so it isn't clear where it was first used. In 1929-40 book, there is only one drawing to illustrate about 25 different cables, so there isn't a sure picture of what you are looking for.

If you have the old cable, many speedometer shops can make you a new one. They just need to know the type of connector on each end and the length. Here's the drawing I sent to a speedometer shop for my 1948 M5 truck.
