Engine assembly lube?

OK, it has been sometime since I overhauled an engine.

I'm pretty sure that the SAE30 and STP combo we use to use is a bit out dated.

What is the engine assembly lube to use? I have way too much time and money invested, to be cheap NOW!

Thanks!

I used the oil/STP combo on my '56 Olds and had no problems.

However, a tube of engine assembly lube is about $6. Well worth the cost.

What I would definitely do is buy and use break-in oil. It has the extra zinc you need to break in your tappets and camshaft. It's never happened to me but I have heard some expensive horror stories about screwing up your cam within the first 20 minutes of break-in.
