Dwight Romberger
This craigslist ad has what is purported to be a 1917 Overland pickup for $1250. The frame and suspension would make a unique start for a speedster.http://joplin.craigslist.org/grd/4508956499.htmlNot mine. whtbaron
Interesting find. Funny that now every rusty car is a "potential" rat rod. Hopefully something more interesting is done with it.
Dwight Romberger
Here is a 1918 Overland speedster with the same interesting frame.
nzcarnerd
Both of the cars pictured are not earlier than 1920. This model was Overland's 'Ford T competitor' and for various reasons - a major strike and the effects of WW1 - it was only introduced in October 1919.Something remarkably similar was sold at an auction in England in 2005 - http://www.artvalue.com/auctionresult--overland-vehicles-1922-overland-model-4-2261143.htm Edited June 21, 2014 by nzcarnerd (see edit history)
Lahti35
Interesting find. Funny that now every rusty car is a "potential" rat rod. Hopefully something more interesting is done with it.Technically its only 'half a rat rod, lol! That is a cool frame though, never seen one like it. I can't see many of these ancients being restored in the future by generations that seem to care less and less though. A grim prospect for sure. whtbaron
Wonder what it sold for in 05?
nzcarnerd
Re the 2005 sale price I don't see anything on the page, though the estimate was GBP1000-2000, but because the English have a thing about old registration marks its value may have been more for that. Guest 914Driver
Can someone tell me about these wheels? Is that a wire cover bolter onto a disc wheel or is that actually a wire wheel?
Dwight Romberger
Since no one answered, I will give my opinion and maybe someone will correct me if I am wrong. As you wrote, the front looks like a wire cover with the "wrong" center cap bolted on.The rear looks like a real bent wire wheel.
