cahartley
A friend just got involved with his sister-in-law's car. In fact they just hauled it to the shop early this evening and had it popping in no time flat after not being run for 10 years. The hand writing is on the wall that the fuel pump components will not fare well with ethanol gas but having 65 year rubber components they are probably shot, or nearly shot, anyway.I have found NOS soft kits but what's the point of that?I have also found a rebuilt fuel pump on ebay for $150 with new, fuel compatible, components. Is there a less expensive way to go? rocketraider
You should be able to get an ethanol-compatible rebuild kit for a lot less that that buck-fifty.Or we could pressure lawmakers to outlaw that ethanol garbage, but we know the chances of that happening. joe_padavano
Thanks for the reply but no dice.........at least not that I can find....... :confused:Well, you might want to brush up on search engine technique. I just typed ac fuel pump rebuild kits for ethanol into Google. These are the first three links that came up. All claim to sell rebuild kits for AC fuel pumps that are ethanol compatible.http://www.classicpreservation.com/fuelpumpkits.htmlhttp://cowboyjohnsautoparts.com/antique-car-rebuild-kits/fuel-pump-rebuild-kits.htmlhttp://www.maritimedragracing.com/antique_auto_parts_cellar.htmAnd if you write the correct ebay search string, you get this ethanol compatible rebuild kit for $60.http://www.ebay.com/itm/1937-1938-1939-1940-1941-1942-1948-1949-PONTIAC-OLDSMOBILE-AC-496-FUEL-PUMP-KIT-/380819465966?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58aa9be6ee&vxp=mtr
