I may be a little late, but this will be the official thread for the 2014 Heartland Regional Meet.

We will be having a driving tour to the famous French Lake Auto Parts on Thursday http://www.frenchlakeautoparts.com/index1.htm with literally acres of vintage Buicks. Thursday morning will have a stop at an outlet mall as well.

Friday will include self guided tours to the Mall of America and other local areas of interest. Friday night we will have a BBQ at the Minneapolis Firefighters Museum http://firehallmuseum.org/

Saturday will be the big show with both judged and display cars.

I will try to get up some pictures from the junkyard and the museum in the next few days.

If you need more information or wish to receive a registration form, send an email to: wildcat465@excite.com

Thanks, Paul and Donna.

A Buick A$$ Award? I thought I was providing a service here. I insist that I get one though. Should be presented in a parking lot with many cocktails involved.

Maybe I should put up some more. Solidify my leading position in the newest award there is.

Ah, John you noticed long shadows and general lack of greenery. I took these October 28 last fall. Doubt much has changed since. With all the rain we have had, one needs to wear mudsuckers in there.

Here's some more pictures. Yes, each one is a different car.

Actually, I was wondering if that coffee mug in this picture might still be there :

I wouldn't doubt it. We could make it a sub - event. "Find the coffee mug next to the 56 and we will fill it for you for free." Or something else really cool like that.

How about some oldies for tonight.

Paul, I tried to determine from their site but not really clear, how are the prices at this place. For parts and do they sell complete cars?

The pricing is a little high in my mind, not so much to some minds. You can negotiate at the counter. They do have projects for sale, does turn over though, cars coming in all the time.

Here's a few from last fall:

I think you and Rita should find a way up and join in the fun.

Paul,

Any Rivs?

post-42002-143142575993_thumb.jpg Just for you Jim, missing the sport wheel though, Ahem, someone already got it, cough, cough.

More Rivieras.

Wonder if it has a working tranny. As some of you now know, I lost the tranny on my 92 Riv 155 miles east of the ROA meet at the Marriott Colorado Springs. Got it towed to the hotel and then home in MA from there....$1500 towing and whatever additional $$ to fix tranny. Turned out will be an expensive ROA meet for me. So unfortunately, I will now not be able to attend the Heartland Regional as previously planned.

Paul,

Just picked up on this thread...great job! Man, you`re killin me with the pics from French Lake....reminds me of a place I found back in the early `80`s northwest of Grand Rapids called "Joe`s"...unreal, like a time warp. It appears many of the cars are not what I would expect from Minn car in terms of rust??? Are most of these cars from The Dakotas??

I couldnt attend the ROA meet this year but could combine the Mn regional with a couple of days at Rainy in August...thanks again for the great posts,

Tom Mooney

Probably there because of the transmission. I am really bummed that your car puked and even more bummed that we won't see you there Ship. Hope to get some time to spend with you somewhere next year my friend.

David, what a situation! I am so sorry we won't be able to connect at Minnesota

I was really hoping to share some "Nordeasts" with my Northeast friends.

Joe's auctioned off a few years back, I will try to find the thread where I posted a bunch of pics before the auctioneer and the car crusher went through. Not gonna happen at French Lake though, older cars come in regularly from all over the country.

Yes, Tom, you need to swing by the Regional.

Is anybody bringing a model 1929 to the show, or another year from the 20's/30's? Would like to compare notes.

I met two guys from the Caddy-Lasalle Club this weekend who live in the area around the meet. I asked about the French Lake yard. They said that the guy is fair on prices and is constantly buying inventory. According to them he recently acquired up to 80 more cars. They said he is buying from old farms where impromptu stashes collected over the years.

I have no independent verification of this, and am just reporting it best I recall.

John, none so far. But, alas, registrations just trickle in typically until just before the cutoff when the bulk of them finally come. Makes planning difficult, but every show seems to be this way.

I generally hit FLAP a couple times/year. There are always new arrivals to see. Floyd's sons run the operation in recent years, but he's been around. The guys 'at the counter' often price a bit high. I hope it's good weather for everybody and the ground dries up some more. In past years they have done an August shutdown to do improvements.

Well, we have passed the deadline for signing up for judging. Any sign ups from here will be display only.

We have 80 folks registered so far, should be a great show.

You can still sign up and we will do our best to get you parked in your class.

Thanks to all that volunteered and attended the meet. You are what make it a success.

If anyone had their Buick go through the 400 pt judging process and would like a copy of the judging form please contact me. My information is in the Roster or you may PM me. The process is the same as a National Meet you may send a S.A.S.E. or with an email I can scan it and send it to you.

Thanks for posting some photos John. Your judging sheets are sent.

Ted, we might have some members that took photos, unfortunately I did not have a chance to take any. If I can locate some I will make sure I post them to the thread. You might want to ask that guy back in Milwaukee if he or Bobbi took any ;)

I have gobs of photos but teenagers limit access to the computer they are on. I will see if I can get a few up in coming days.

I was was generally pleased with the Reatta as the cruise worked most of the time and she got 30 mpg on the highway.

BTW, Marge has a DVD of photos from this meet and the Nationals. I imagine Pete ought to have one by now too.
