smithbrother
I invited our son to go with me to the GOODGUYS car show here in Indy today. When he came to pick me up I said, "I HAVE A CHANGE OF PLANS". Let's go to the Speedway for the vintage car racing. He said sounds like a plan to me.We arrived around 9 am. cars were already ROARING around the track.Over 600 vintage cars of ALL TYPES, beautiful cars, very nice crowd, very well organized too. They used both the road coarse, and the oval, NOT AT THE SAME TIME OF COURSE. Cars went ALL OUT, passing was not allowed on corners, but that didn't always happen. the speeds were wonderful, sounds were so sweet, even some F-1 cars. Actually very few had issues, one race was RED flagged as a car spun, and had the track blocked, but just for a few minutes. Some races had 30 or more cars, and lots of drafting, and close racing. I can't begin to tell you how neat it was, this is the first year, cars from all over the world, it will surely be an annual event. Lots of very rare machines, one of the most enjoyable racing days I have had in a LONG TIME. I hope to post some pic's soon, but wanted to share this with you, CAN'T WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR, for sure! The weather was wonderful too, lots of sun, not hot, and nice wind. Dale in Indy If anyone else attended, I would love to read of your impressions. Edited June 7, 2014 by smithbrother (see edit history)
