Guest toniuveocho
Hello!<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:pI´d like to know when this bus was built.<O:p</O:pHis owner only knows that its brand is ‘RIO’. He suspicious that Hugo Kattwinkel was a Spanish importer of REO trucks, in Madrid, but due strange reasons it was commercialize with brand <ST1:pRIO.</ST1:p<O:p</O:pHe knows that number plate is dated from 1927. somorgujo
I have a 1926 RIO roadster. I live in Argentina and we speak spanish. In my language the word REO is not a good name for a car because it means "convict". So, the importers decided, in those days, to change the name for RIO. Guest toniuveocho
Hi somorgujo!<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:pIn my country it also happened something like that, so brand REO recalled a prisoner, so they were marketed under the brand <ST1:pREO. As i said, the question that owner of the bus set out is that he knows it was registered in 1927, but he wants to know what year it was manufactured, it may be before 1927. Maybe chassis and engine numbers can me help, or someone could show me a page where i can investigate, at least.Could you upload pics about your REO?Greetings!<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:p
Guest toniuveocho
¡Hola somorgujo!
Bueno, aquí van las fotos:Hello friend from Motherland!. Here I post the serial numbers that can be useful for you to locate the year bus which, by the way, predates a lot to 1927 (the "blind" 4-cylinder engine indicates it as I guess). Also uploaded a picture of my REO or RIO 1926 that unfortunately have put on sale recently unable to prepare to restore it. Well, here are the photos:

Mark Gregory
I asked at the Reo Club for you . The response was this. My book shows numbers only up to Aug 1926. This motor number was made after August 1st 1926.The chassis number would indicate that it was probably made around May June 1926. Nothing based on actual facts.__._,_.___ Show message history Edited June 22, 2014 by Mark Gregory (see edit history)
Guest toniuveocho
Thanks, Mark Gregory!Let's see, so I'm getting into a mess:I'm checking docs which somorgujo shared, but I found following question: 1920 are manufactured chassis numbers from 12003 to 24300, ok. But…1908 was produced chassis numbers form 10501 to 13985; 1909, from 17001 to 21527; and 1910 from 21528 to 25000. Then, why in 1920 return to the 12003 numbers until the 24300? :confused:I hope well have set out my doubt. Thanks a lot!
