Regional newsletters, not "magazines"

Recommended Posts

We certainly have some very good regional newsletters

in the A.A.C.A., and they get better year by year.

Accordingly, here's a thought for your consideration:

Even though some of our best newsletters are approaching

magazine size, understatement is a plus. Modesty is an

asset. I suggest always referring to them as "newsletters,"

never "magazines."

If regions call them magazines, that would put them in a

class with Hemmings Classic Car, Antique Automobile,

Cars and Parts, and so on. Our newsletters are not of that

caliber; even the best don't come close to those professionally

produced publications.

"Wow, that's your newsletter? It sure is fancy!" is a likely

comment heard when our best regional publications classify

themselves in the more modest category.

John, that word, magazine, is probably only a term of endearment. You know, "Wow, I'm proud to say your newsletter looks like a magazine!" If I was an editor, I'd be really happy to hear someone say that.

By the way, in my experience, AACA's top echelon newsletters are really becoming high quality newsletters.

Some may even say, almost like magazines?:)
