1936 Terraplane "restopreservation"

Recommended Posts

So I dragged this old girl home a few weeks ago after it popped up on craigslist 10 minutes from the house. I needed another car because the frame off '36 chevy i've got going just wasn't enough I guess! All kidding aside the condition of the sheet metal is excellent and in salty MI we just don't find things this old in this shape. It spent 1959-2003 in an Iowa barn and 2003-2014 in a MI barn, i'm the 4th owner and a happy camper.

The plan on this one is to clean and preserve it, restoring only what needs it. Condition of the engine is unknown, it's a replacement from '37 but I can roll it over by hand so at least its not froze up. I'll have to open it up and check it out at the very least.

So far i've gone through it and taken inventory of the parts it came with. Today I had a chance to clean up a small area on the hood and got great results. Cleaned another small area on the cowl but the paint there was better than the hood by far so it cleaned up as I expected it would.

Not sure if you are talking about the parking brake right by the drivers door or the "electric hand" with the mini shifter on top of the steering column in front of the wheel. That shifter is an electric/vacuum shifter for the car. You can remove the floor shifter and just use the "electric hand" option if you want.
