1955 Starfire 98 Convertible

I used to own a 1955 Oldsmobile, Coral (orange) & White 98 Starfire convertible.

I bought it, in mint condition, in 1959 for $1,500.00. I drove it, relentlessly for about ten years.

I lived in West Virginia, at the time. These photos are from a trip to Daytona Beach in 1960.

I traded it for some tires in about 1970 to a fellow in Ohio, Cleveland area, I believe.

It was pretty well used by then, but restorable and complete. I'm, hoping that it got saved and restored.

Does anyone think that they know of it now ?

Thank you,

mikeburch

I guess that nobody is familiar with this Oldsmobile.

Hints ..... the right front door was caved in, below the chrome moulding.

............ It had a white naugahyde top and top boot.

I am not trying to buy it, I am just hoping it has a good home !

Any hints would be appreciated !

Thanks,

Yes, I'm remorseful that I let it get away. It would have been too expensive to repair it and it just wasn't worth anything, at the time.

I did advertise it in "Hemmings" for $200.00 and only got one response. A fellow from Los Angeles, really would have liked to have had it, but it just did not work out. Later, a fellow, with a tire shop, offered to trade me a set of tires for my pick-up, so I took him up on it. The last time that I saw it, it was on a flatbead truck, heading for the Cleveland, Ohio area. This was in about 1970.

I loved that car ! Sure hope that it got saved !

Thanks,

I am thinking that it has changed hands, several times, and the present owner, has no idea of it's history.

I'm hoping that is the story and it didn't get scrapped !
