Have had this car for 40 years,,,just had the motor and trans out,,,it had been out before I owned it----- upon separating them I found a double gasket made from a sheet of alluminum---then are good but do not look factory,,,,has any one had them motor appart ? why dould them want an extra eight of an inch ??maybe the rubber motor mounts were loose,,,,,BR

What gasket? Do you mean head gasket?

Maybe someone put in the thick head gasket to lower the compression. Your car has low compression to start with, maybe they wanted to run it on kerosene. During WW2 when gasoline was hard to get, some motors were modified to run on kerosene.
