1962 F85 Propeller Shaft

Recommended Posts

I took my propeller shaft to a machine shop to have it balanced. The guy at the machine shop is having a difficult time and cannot get it balanced. He believes that the center bearing is preventing this. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it possible to replace the propeller shaft with a one piece drive line? Thanks again!

Forget the one piece drive shaft. Will not fit down the tunnel. Here is the info on the center bearing. It could be the cv joint or the u joints.

I'll echo what Ken said. The reason these cars have a two piece driveshaft is to get a lower floor and smaller tunnel. People who convert to a one-piece shaft have to mod the tunnel to clear. I suggest finding another driveshaft shop who knows how to balance a two piece properly.
