Guest dgriff8923
My 1918 Cad has an aluminum crankcase and cam cover etc. Should they be just cleaned and left natural, or painted with an aluminum looking paint?
trimacar
Inside of crankcase sould be painted with Glyptal to seal aluminum(this is assuming you've had engine apart and cleaned). The procedure then is to cosmetically seal outside of block.....again, assuming it's clean you rub aluminum paint on the outside with a rag...you're not really painting, you're just covering some defects and getting a more uniform finish....just like they did back then... trimacar
Just remember my comment is general, you may wish to check with a Cadillac expert if you're going for Cadillac judging....
