Raise your hand if you drove at least one old Buick this weekend

Last week I got to drive Terry Wiegand's 1920 Coupe on our way back from the Nationals. post-79073-143142668853_thumb.jpgThen after returning home took our 1925-25 Touring for a 22 mile limbering up cruse. I had rebuilt the clutch before we left to go to Portland. Now a joy to drive.

post-79073-143142668866_thumb.jpg Today we drove our 1937-41 out to visit a gentleman near Gettysburg whom Dwight Romberger and I helped to get his father's 1925-45 running last year. He had done some more work on it to get it running better. He invited me to drive it today. I never pass up an opportunity to drive an old Buick. Scary ride. Hardy any brakes and very loose steering. Still needs more work!

Our local BCA chapter had a cruise meet on Saturday.

We drove about 35 miles to a small town street fair. Weather was fantastic and the '65 Wildcat performed flawlessly.

We drove some leisurely back roads on the way there, walked through the fair, had a delicious lunch and a few adult beverages.

Unfortunately, I had a previous engagement and had to take the shortcut home. The Wildcat enjoyed the freeway rush home as well! :)

Drove the 1905 Model C only about 6 miles last weekend to a local show and then ice cream (of course). Week before last we clocked 70 miles on a great one-day local tour with other brass-era friends.

Cruised down to Woodward Ave. tonight just to say I was there. Technically the Dream Cruise doesn't start til' tomorrow but really it started tonight. Took a small video clip. Didn't want to get a ticket for holding my phone up while driving. The cops were CRACKING DOWN out there! I didn't get very far towards Detroit, the south bound lanes were bumper to bumper stop and go. I went a few miles down Woodward and turned around. Got to save some gas for Back to the Bricks tomorrow!:)

Took the '41 Roadmaster on a 200 mile tour today with a local car club I'm a member of. The pre war bunch age ranged from a few brass T's ('12 & 13, I think) to mine. The post war group ranged from 1947 to the 80's. About 60+ cars altogether, and very nice weather touring.

Will post a few pictures tomorrow.

I took my 1957 Roadmaster out for a 250+ mile drive today!

I had no particular destination in mind when I left Washington, DC at around noon today. I just knew I wanted to go for a drive. When I found myself in Winchester, VA, I decided to keep going into West Virginia and on to Cumberland, MD. From Cumberland, I drove back to DC via Hagerstown and Frederick. I was back home in DC a little after 6 PM. I've included a map of my route below. The car handled it all with ease. What a great day behind the wheel!

Does it count if a person gets into the shop and slips behind the wheel and starts the engine? I got the yardwork all done for awhile and wanted to drive the '20 a bit later this afternoon. The thermometer was reading 103 degrees and the thought of those Mohair seats just didn't do it for me at that point. I was right there with you in spirit, Larry.

What nice activities. Too bad we are losing so many people to other social media or I'm sure we'd hear a lot of other great stories too. BTW, this past Sunday I took the 56 on a 35 mile ride for take out dinner at Boston Market, after Matt (Jackofalltrades70) educated me on oiling the vacuum advance plate inside the distributor ... What a difference a few drops of oil make!!!

My wife and I led a day-long "Cars of the Jet Age" driving tour in our '59 Buick Electra on Sunday. We shot photos in historic Port Townsend, with this photo at the Jefferson County Court House:

My wife and I stayed over at the 1868 McCurdy House bed-and-breakfast, where the innkeeper offered to park elsewhere, allowing the Buick the safest parking spot!

We spent Monday walking through downtown Port Townsend, and parked the Buick in front of the 1917 dealership building that was constructed as a Buick and Ford dealership. Notice the 1959-vintage "LeSabre" showroom neon in the window:

A small group of Buicks stopped by in my state on their 4000 km cross country trip to the Australian Buick Nationals in Perth next week.

A great assortment of quality cars ranging from the 40's to the 70's. Met a great bunch of folk.

I took out my 57 Special for its first real test of the dynaflow after a total rebuild. 160 mile round trip.

Couldn't be happier.

here's a few pics...

A couple of 70's boat tails...

And how about this 1917 Excelsior Autocycle.... not quite finished, but amazing

This guy has had to cast many parts himself to restore this fine machine.

I had a neat experience on Sat., a friend's Dad turned 80, and she asked me if I would do a favour for her and her Dad. So, I agreed, and she came to my place so that I could pick her Mom and Dad up in the '41 Roadmaster then drove him to a restaurant to meet the rest of his family for lunch. This was a complete surprise for him, and though he never had an old car he's always liked them, and he enjoyed the ride a lot! Many pictures were taken of everyone posing in front of the car.

About 40 miles of driving all told.

We have a nice Sunday going on here in Doo Dah, so I slipped the '20 out of the shop and put about 25 miles on it. Ran like a charm. I got a couple of photos of the car parked in front of the old, former Buick dealership building on automobile row in downtown Hutchinson. I also got a few shots of the car parked in front of my friend's small used car dealership building. This had been an old Texaco station in years past and it made for a nice photo setting.post-56463-143142700519_thumb.jpg

Terry, I love the sign in your rear window!

Meanwhile, with no where in particular to go, we did get the 69 GS out, two times, this weekend. The A/C is so cold, and from inside, the hood looks so...short...LOL...
