What? No pictures? What th??? LOL

Nice job Ben, and Martin, and 69 Buick Girl. Love to hear about old Buicks on the road regardless of which day of the week it was driven. We took the Queen to dinner and a cruise in last nite. 35 miles round trip. Not that far but enough to keep the seals moistened. And no, I don't have any pictures either . But I did try uploading a mobile picture to the forum and discovered it does work directly from my gallery, but it is terribly slow, and it uploaded the picture two times cause I thought the process did not work and hit the upload button twice. But it does work.

9/10/14: it's a few days after the weekend but I can only drive one car at a time. Anyway, Saturday we took the Electra 140 miles to Oneonta NY for dinner with Jackofalltrades77 ( matt) and his family. What a nice time. Then Monday I got the GS out for a topless 40 mile trip to run some errands. One errand was making the downpayment on that "shed" we are getting for the Electra. Tonight is a wonderful late summer evening here and I got the 56 out for 35 miles to the local Cruise in.

The wagon is down for a while. Have stuck front bleeders and it seems that is where the problem might be now.

I took the Riviera up for New York State annual inspection for the 37th time; same shop that put the new exhaust on it shortly after I bought the car, a Monroe Muffler. The mechanic is younger though, he's only been there 18 years.

The car has 75, 411..... oops, 75,413 miles on it now. I think it showed about 53K when I bought it.

Went to take the 1925 to local car show on Saturday but steady rain most all day. (I put the top down in May and put it back up in October.) I did not feel like wearing a rain slicker through out the day. By 3:00 after the show the sun came out so I took my daughter for a 3 mile drive to get dinner. On Sunday we took Beulah (the 25) to church then a drive around the country side (about 10 miles) an a crisp clear blue sky day. In the afternoon we drove the 1937, 23 miles to give her some exercise. Ah ... Buick Bliss!

Sunday was a beautiful day in the region surrounding Washington, DC, so I took my '63 Electra 225 convertible out for a short drive (only 250 miles or so). It was a lovely day to be touring with the top down, but I've got to remember to keep a hat in the car -- my bald head got a little too much sun.

Sorry, no photos of the car; but I did quickly take a photo as I started to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge going eastbound on Hwy 50.

The closest gas station to me that sells 93 octane ethanol-free gasoline is on the Delmarva Peninsula in Easton, Maryland. For those of you unfamiliar with the geography of this region, here's a map of the Delmarva Peninsula. It's the large peninsula on the East coast occupied by most of Delaware, portions of Maryland, and Virginia way down at its Southern tip.

Easton, MD is about 70 miles away from my home in DC. Every so often, I'll drive one of my old Buicks to Easton for a tank-full of ethanol-free gas; and I usually extend my drive to get as close to empty as I dare before arriving at the gas station to fill up. This is easier to accomplish in the Electra, which has a functioning fuel gauge; it's a little more challenging in the '57 Roadmaster, with its faulty fuel gauge. Until I get the Roadmaster's fuel gauge sorted out, I have to rely on the trip odometer, which I zero out at every fill-up. Lately, I've been averaging between 11 and 14 mpg in the Roadmaster, so I don't dare drive more than about 215 miles before refueling. I really enjoy the drive to Easton and back, but still, I wish I had more options for ethanol-free gas closer to me. Those of you with ethanol-free gas nearby are lucky. Actually, come to think of it, at $5.69/gal, I am lucky that ethanol-free gas is some distance away and not an option for every fill-up!

The wife and I drove the '15 truck to dinner last night.

So glad to hear everyone's driving stories. It's nice to know we are all displaying our Buicks wherever we are located. Today our Chapter sponsored a tour to the Olana State Historic Site, in Hudson NY. This is the former property of Frederick Church (1826-1900). The 250 acre property was a 110 round trip for the Electra and is noted for the home, which sits on top of a small mountain, and which is mostly restored as well as containing 96% of the original furnishings. I had the Wildcat out to a local cruise night tonight. It's the first time she's been out / shown this year. I have to download photos from the camera tomorrow.

On Saturday September 13, we took our '36 Special model 46 to the Arlington (WA) Drag Strip Reunion and car show. A distance of about 35 miles from home. Over the course of the day the battery went dead due to the contacts in the generator cut-out relay being stuck. AAA was called to ferry the car home.

This past Saturday, we took our '56 Special model 43 on a 125 mile round trip to the town of Darrington, WA past the town of Oso which was hit by a deadly landslide earlier this year. The area is remote and was hit hard economically after the slide. Our goal as a car club (Port Gardner vintage Auto Club) was to show our support and spend some money at local businesses. It was an enjoyable day for all.

Hard to tell how far I drive my '40 Limited Touring Sedan every weekend since the odometer and the gas gauge does not work.... But I do take it to the gas station on the first trip from the house every weekend and it usually takes 6-10 gallons so I am guessing between 75-150 miles per weekend? I do NOT drive modern on the weekend unless it is too hot or raining. Headed out this weekend on a car tour of roughly 300 mile round trip from my house. looking forward to it.

On Saturday, September 13, I gathered friends with early-1970's Buicks, and we traveled together to Pacific Lutheran University for some photos. In addition to my 1971 Centurion, we had a 1971 Riviera, 1972 Riviera, and 1973 Regal. I intend to submit an article about our event to Pete for possible inclusion in the Bugle.

I took the '41 Roadmaster out on Sunday for a 20 mile test drive with the freshly rebuilt Stromberg carb. Ran nice!

Beautiful pics Brian and John! I had both Buicks out this weekend, if only to fix what seems to be a constant stream of problems this summer! Wagon in for front wheel bearings and the Electra's new alternator failed... Here's a couple of pics of the cars together at my garage after an afternoon of wrenching.

I try to get in a three mile walk every day. Traffic and noise in my large village of 10,000 has driven me off to the Erie Canal Trail.

There is a sign that reads "No Motor Vehicles" but the gate is always open. What a nice place to get some pictures this weekend!

I searched online to find out what the fine might be. Has anyone every got a ticket for violating that rule? I'd ask the local judge, but it might look premeditated if I end up in front of him.

The more I drive the truck, the better it seems to be running.

Well..............that was until today. Shadetree (Robert Trail) and I spent the afternoon out joy riding all around town in the '15 truck in the BEAUTIFUL fall day.

Drove all over the place until I think I lost a rod bearing. Looks like my joy riding is done until spring.

Have a new project for the winter.

Absolutely GORGEOUS day here in Michigan. Perfect driving weather. I had a BLAST riding around with Larry today in his '15 truck. I've included a few photos and a video I took during the ride. As Larry said though, disaster struck. All seemed to be going fine when we stopped back at Larry's to grab a drink for us and the truck. Squirted some oil on the valve train and headed back out for another round. Larry pointed out that something did not sound quite right. After he pointed it out I heard it too. Almost like a vibration type sound. All of a sudden something let loose in the engine and it started knocking loudly. The trip ended in a trailer ride home for the '15. Larry said that the engine needed to be gone through anyway. On the bright side, Larry agreed to let me help with the engine removal/tear down. I'm really excited about that. Love working on old engines. Never had the pleasure of working on anything pre-war. Thanks for the ride Larry! I had an amazing time. Don't know if you noticed the goofy smile plastered on my face the whole time. Couldn't stop smiling. Dandy Dave was damn sure right when he leaned over towards me during my ride in his '15 and said, "You gotta' be careful.....this can be addictive."

We took the '60 Buick over to the town five miles to the west for lunch, as is kind of typical for us, then I ran up and got the "new" Packard inspected:

That was my third time driving it. So I did drive at least one old Buick and one old Packard. The Packard is a 288 flat head eight with standard. It drives smooth and has a good feel. The car is a 1948, same as me.

Ran about 300 miles over the weekend. Had an over heating issue within the first 100 miles. We were on a tour with late model cars and pushing it harder down the road than I have typically in the last 6 months now that the shimmy is 90% gone and I believe the timing is slightly retarded. It was a long slow climb HOT and by then even slowing down did not help it. Pulled into a gas station and let it sit, topped it off and never had an issue the rest of the way. One of the winter projects is new hoses and new thermostat. not sure it has one in it now or if it is stuck open......

Drove the 1937 to our Mason-Dixon club meeting yesterday. 100 mile round trip. We had to wait about 10 min in traffic to have a accident cleared and temp went up to 200 degrees. When we got to York Pa. she did a bit of a spit up. After then meeting I filled the radiator with a little over a quart of coolant. We did the 50 mile return trip without incident. It did not overflow when I put it back in the garage. So another successful round trip. Always frustrating for me is that even the members who live within 10 miles of our meeting will not drive their cars there.

Logged about 340 miles this weekend figured I'd take advantage of the the indian summer weather here in New England. From picking up my daughter at college, several random cruises with my pal Mocha, and sneaking in a couple local cruise nights. Wildcat is starting to settle in in nicely, absolute joy to drive ...

I drove George, my '50 Mod 41D to Austin and back this weekend . Almost 600 miles. A blast!

Gee, just 240 miles round trip for the Queen today, to the Lower Hudson Valley Chapter's annual show. Can't measure up to Ben and George! But had a great time anyway.
