Guest Thuff51
Hello All,I'm having trouble sourcing a new/rebuilt master cylinder for my 51 Buick Special. I've seen the inexpensive rebuild kits but most shops around me a too afraid to install for fear of failure. Any idea how I can locate one and are there any interchangeability between Packard, Olds or other 50's car to widen my search? My brakes are locking up pretty bad from previous owner letting it sit too long so plan to go through all hydraulics. I have all other parts except for the elusive master cylinder.</SPAN>
retirednow
One book I have says any 50-52 Buick and 53 special will work. I'll check my Buick master parts book later to see if it says anything else.

trp3141592
Hi.Hagen's shows a whole mess of 50-53 interchanges. http://hagensautoparts.com/1310-10032/Or send yours to Rob at www.brakeplace.com. They'll sleeve it with stainless, install a kit, and guarantee their work. They have done all my cylinders.--Tom Edited April 9, 2014 by trp3141592 Added info (see edit history)
Eric W
CARS also has new ones. I found these on sale a couple months ago via their ebay listings - price (including shipping) was less than rebuild by some of the other guys. Oh, I see the current price has gone up a bit. Anyway, when you run out of options, they are available new. You need to transfer the frame-attach studs from your existing cylinder.http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/up-to-1960-buick-group-brakes-master-cylinder-1950-53-buick-p-21408.html
