Bleach
V8's were standard in all years. The six cylinder engines were credit options on certain 59 and 60 models.
Guest captaincon
The vin tag info says its always been a 6 cyl with a 2 speed auto box . I thought it had its original engine till I found a tag on the block the other day saying its a recon :-(

Bleach
It was probably originally sold in North America and somehow found it's way to the UK.
Guest captaincon
I found out it was a Florida car in 1987 it was seized by the USA government maybe for some sort of tax payment . It was then sold at auction and brought to the uk in 1988. It was then used in the first edition of american classic magazine with a big radio 1 dj driveing it ( John peel) the magazine came with the car and it clearly shows the regastration number Edited February 28, 2014 by captaincon (see edit history)

avgwarhawk
I'm glad you decided to go the distance and restore. You have a very good body with minimal rust issues. Fine candidate for a restore. I find the inline 6 interesting. I really do not know why the Edsel got bad press in the late 50's. I love them. Keep posting pictures! Guest captaincon
I have finished the radiator support repair all I have to do to it is dress the weld a bit and send it to the powder coaters with the fender aprons and bumper mounts . I have had most of the parts arrive ready to start the rebuild when I get the body back .the new carpet and roof liner should finish the inside of quite nice

Landman
Looking good. If I were to own a car of the fifties (which I haven't yet) it would have to be a shade of light blue. So, naturally I approve of your choice. I can already see what it will look like.
