2nd 69 Electra road trip (2013)

Another great road trip last summer;

The only planned places were start and finish in Austin, TX and the BPG Nats in OH. Every day we more or less decided were to go next.

The Electra did great: used less than a quart of oil on the 6,650 mls and used about 16 mpg on gas. Had to change the points/rotor/cap at some point.

Going through the zillions of photos we took, I choose a few Buick related ones.

Roughly: Sun studio/Graceland/Johnny Cash museum/Blue Ridge Parkway/BPG Nats/Antelope Canyon/White Sands and classic car dealers/yards.

Weather was crazy: last road trips I remember only one day with a little rain; this time the bad weather seemed to stick on us: flooding, hail and 52F in NM (in August..)

A very big thanks goes out to Frank (Austingta) who, in fact, made this all happen.

Since photos say more than 1,000 words; the first few days:

Few more (Buick related) photos:

Being picked up by Frank in his '66 Cadillac at the start in Austin, TX immediately took away the bad feeling about the 24 hr delay caused by another plane with broken landing gear at LaGuardia:

Bad weather in NM: lots of rain (like in flooded roads) and even hail (hadn't thought I would ever use the heater in the car in August in NM :eek2: ):

Again plans are being made for another road trip in summer 2014; first need to find a Buick (prefer a 67/68 Electra (2 0r 4 dr) or Wildcat (2dr) or a 71 Riviera at the west coast ( OR ( ;) )

Are you going to be in Portland for the July Nationals?

Chris,

it all depends on where we will find a nice Buick. West coast = BCA, East coast = BPG.

Hope we'll meet again.

Rob,

Thank you for sharing your greats road trips (I just saw the others).

It's fantastic and the pictures are very nice.

I did road trips in USA too and i would like to do it again.

Two of the road trips i made were with Classic cars (one week only).

The first one with a friend and a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo.

and the second one with my wife, my son and two cars: a 1968 Impala and a 1973 Satellite.

The next time i hope it will be with a Buick.

We especially like the White Sands one.

White Sands was beautiful, much better than expected; besides the breathtaking views there, we had a little fun as well :o :
