motoringicons
SOLD SOLD SOLD1950 Mercury Coupe. This extremely nice Mercury came to us from a prominent collector of Flathead Fords. Prior to joining his collection, the car spent the bulk of its life in California. It has been maintained both mechanically and cosmetically in his private museum for the last several years where it was carefully but regularly driven. This is a Business Coupe, meaning the rear windows do not roll down, you just don’t see many of this model. It is lightly customized. The biggest modification would be stance. The chassis has been slightly lowered by using dropped spindles in the front with shorter springs on the front and rear. The result is a truly spectacular looking car that sits right from all angles. These modifications could be easily reversed if one desires, but the car just looks so "right" the way it is.The paint is near new and shows hardly any signs of wear. The interior has been recently and professionally replaced at great expense. The chrome is superb and the overall fit and finnish is excellent throughout. All features function properly. Including the radio and clock. All gauges and lights work as they should. The door and trunk locks work as well.Operating this car is a breeze. It starts, idles, runs, drives, shifts and stops as it should. It cruises easily at 65 mph. It runs cool and starts easily when warm or cold. The chassis is original and nicely detailed including the correct Mercury flathead V8 engine.Recent maintenance includes new radial tires, suspension and steering work, a new fuel tank, rebuilt carburetor, front-end alignment and new shocks. Even the u-joints are new. This car is ready and able to make the long haul and will certainly be welcomed at any shows. If you want a super nice, rust-free California Mercury coupe, this one will be tough to top. The quality, appearance, condition and driveability make this one of the finest Mercs we have ever seen. The price is 36,000.00 and the car is located near Jefferson, WI.Please call 734-730-4274 or email: motoringicons@hotmail.com for more information or to schedule a viewing.Thank you.
