Guest jims41LC
Ok now to the radio in my '41 LC. It is the Zenith 7ml592. I took it out, removed the covers and cleaned it up using a soft brush and air, and vacuumed the dirt and dust. I managed to restring the tuning knob and it moves the indicator. The radio "works" i.e. it comes on , makes noise, I can hear one station barely. The volume goes up amd down ok, but it doesn't tune in any other stations and makes a lot of static noises etc.I don't know how the center channel selector is set or works eitherThe question is what to do with it? I don't think it needs a full rebuild , but definitely tuned up and some repair. Does anyone have a recommendation who to go to in the Washington State area? I've looked a lot of sites on the web, but would appreciate some guidance on who to choose.
Waldren
A reminder. This is an A M radio and not like our radios of today. A good ground and a good antenia are needed. Reception is not good everywhere. I'm 74 and have to be reminded that a lot of things have improved. Good luck.Lee
John Murphy
Mprning Jim. Suggest you contact the clubs technical advisor Jake Fleming at 1 214 332 3197. Jake rebulds our coils, sets up our distriutors and does the Lincoln car radios. A very versatile fellow.
