J3Studio
My wife and I are newbies to the annual meeting in Philadelphia next week. Any advice from those more experienced?
Bob Giles
1. Pick out a few seminars to attend.2. Take the city tour. If You end up in old town, walk back to the hotel through Chinatown3. Attend the museum auction and bid freely.4. Many good and much cheaper restaurants outside the hotel.5. Take a tour of the Cathedral behind the hotel. Attend mass if you're catholic.6. Ladies breakfast on Friday.7. Trade show is a must. Talk with the chapters arranging the tours and make plans to attend. This will get you started
ex98thdrill
Good suggestions....Another one....Take the tour up to the top of City Hall. There is an awesome view of the city from just below the statue of William Penn.

5219
City Hall is a great tour. It is a fascinating building full of quirky architecture and interesting art work. If you have a taste for nineteenth century weirdness, the Mutter Museum of Medical Oddities is located at 21st and Chestnut. It is full of skulls, bones, mummified body parts, old medical equipment and the like. The Reading Terminal Market at 12th and Market Streets is a perfect place to go for lunch after the Saturday meeting. Every kind of food that you can imagine is served there. It is unique and has been there for over 100 years.Chinatown is very close to our hotel and has all kinds and price levels of Asian food. MochetVelo
The concierge at the hotel is also quite helpful. They will give you suggestions for nearby sites and a map with directions.Phil
John_S_in_Penna
I like the "Reels of Cars" seminar, which is conducted by Michael Graffevery year. He shows old car ads and promotional videos from hiscollection of 16mm movie film. It's well attended and very popular.I see that this year, it is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7 from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m.in the Independence Ballroom. (A schedule of seminars is available inPhiladelpha or on-line.) "Reels of Cars" usually lasts well past the scheduledclosing time due to its popularity.
