1965 Exner Bugatti modfied Typ 57 called 101, the one Gen. Lyon owned in California

Recommended Posts

I have seen this car in person, it's pretty radical, maybe beyond what Bugatti would have done but at least better looking than the other postward Bugattis up to 1956.

I read that the Virgil Exners, father Sr. and son Jr., got the chassis for free from Ghia since they were owed $2500 but then how much was the bodywork? Today that would be probably $250,000.

Also is it recorded what price the Exners sold it for to Thomas Barrett III before Barrett really got going on his auctions(maybe this was before it was the Barrett-Jackson auction? )
