Guest 2 CYLINDERBRUSH

2007 Following the discovery in Hawaii of the world’s only 2 Cylinder Brush Engine and its restoration and installation by Brian Love, my Brush now fulfils the dream of its maker, Alanson Partridge Brush, and is the world’s only 2 Cylinder 1910 Brush.

IN 2012 MY 2 cylinder Brush together with four other Brush Veteran Cars, including my son Craig driving my single cyl. 1910 Brush, my son Andrew riding his 1918 Veteran Indian PowerPlus and 32 other Veteran (pre 1918) 1 02 2cylinder cars and motor cycles celebrated the 1912 First Crossing of Australia by a motor car - a 1911 Brush.

1912 Driver Sydney Ferguson, Navigator Francis Birtles - 4,400 kms in 28 days driving from daylight to dusk, mainly through scrub following camel tracks with only a few dirt roads- an heroic feat - Sadly the world's museums, libraries, wiki and google all incorrectly state that Birtles was the first man to drive Across Australia - WRONG - Ferguson drove all the way - Birtles never drove the Brush - following the 1912 crossing he abandoned his bike and made many motoring trips including the 1927 London to Melbourne in a 1926/7 Bean.

1912 CENTENARY EXPEDITION 2012 16 March to 4 April 2012 - 37 Veteran 1 or 2 Cylinder Automobiles and Motorcycles - most around 100 years young drove/rode "Across Australia" 4.100 kms in 20 days including two rest days to Honour Ferguson, Birtles, Rex their fox terrier mascot and the 1911 Brush - Australia's Forgotten Heroes.

Bob forwarded some photos to me, here are some of them.

Bob advised re

Photo 1 - 2 cylinder brush I used the crank and crankshaft - new light weight rods, valves and alloy pistons - the single engine flywheel fitted perfectly-side draft Zenith and electronic ignition engine capacity 2-25 litres

Photo 2 - me and my single cyl 2001 on run "Around Australia" crossing the Nullarbor Plain/Desert

Photo 3 - 2 cyl Brush I had to cast a new cylinder block as the original was badly cracked - we poured it in aluminium to lighten the weight you can see how well it fits

And this photo of arriving at Martin Place in Sydney in April 2012 at the finish of the re-enactment of the 1912 Cross Australia Run. Reason I've included it? Because I'm in it! I'm at right of steering wheel, back to camera, with grey shirt(writing on back) and white cap taking photos of the cars as they arrived.
