motoringicons
SOLD SOLD SOLDThis 1928 Packard 526 Phaeton was sold new by Packard Dealer Earl C. Anthony and was purchased by the current owner about 8 years ago. It is a largely original car that has only been preserved as needed and never fully restored. The body remains is in excellent original condition with a very solid inner wood body structure and excellent body panels. There is no evidence of rust or deterioration anywhere on the body. The door alignment and fit is excellent throughout as is the hood fit. The fenders are in excellent original condition and do not appear to have ever been damaged or repaired. The car retains most of its original black paint, which has been well preserved and remains in very good original condition with a nice even gloss throughout. The interior of the vehicle is largely original and well preserved. The seats may have been recovered many years ago but they have a great vintage look to them that matches the rest of the car. The door panels, rear seat bulk head with its storage cabinets, some of the carpets, etc are original and in very good condition. The dashboard is original and intact with all of its correct gauges and controls, which are in good, operating condition. The top assembly is original but the fabric cover has been recently replaced with period correct replacement and remains in excellent condition.Mechanically, this car has always been serviced and maintained as needed. Most recently, the vehicle has had its cylinder head gasket replaced, a full valve job, the gas tank restored as well as the carburetor, distributor and fuel delivery systems rebuilt. During the last couple of years, the current owner has driven this car about 9,000 trouble free miles. The mileage shown is about 50,000, which is believed to be original. This car features the Packard accessory wire wheels, dual side-mounted spare tires with original cloth covers and proper rear view mirrors, a windshield mounted spot light, a rear seat tonneau windshield, a Boyce motometer, a rear mounted luggage rack with a matching trunk as well as the original tool kit. This is really a great example of a preserved original car that has always been cared for and maintained. A great car to show in HPOF and Preservation class judging, but, more importantly it is a great and reliable tour car that is easy to drive. This Full CCCA Classic open Packard offered for the reasonable price of SOLD or near offers. Chassis Number: 159044. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
