okdave
I have a 41 l z sedan and shifter won't shift out of first gear sometimes. Once I stop the car and turn off engine it is free again. no problems if you take off in second gear. any ideas short of tearing into tranny. Incidentally the transmission was rebuilt about two years ago with new sync rings.
peecher
The trouble may be in the side cover; perhaps the interlock plunger, spring and ball is jamming on the low/reverse cam? Not fun but you can remove the cover without taking the tranny out.
okdave
I forgot to mention that when car is not moving it doesn't seem to be a problem only when under power
Mssr. Bwatoe
The difference is with engine running the main shaft is spinning...depress clutch and it will spin but without torque allowing gears tochange..chk the clutch adjustment...The pedal should easily, pinky finger push about 1/4 to an inch easily ..only pedal return spring tensionto resist it. the clutch may not be releasing enough to allow gear pressure to release low gear, which is close toothed non synchronized..
