Question on 48 Cabriolet operation and speedo issue

I have recently acquired a fully restored 1948 Lincoln Cabriolet. It has actually been in the family for 43 years and recently restored. Couple of questions:

There is a foot switch in between the brake and clutch pedals - what is that for? I am not talking about the hi/lo beam switch to the left of the clutch.

The speedo is not functioning, however the odometer is - means cable is intact. Any pointers on how or who to repair the speedo unit?

Here is a pic and thanks for the help:

I believe that switch is for changing stations on the radio. I have one of those switches on my 48 (doesn't work however). Kind of a pre-historic signal seeking feature. If you pull back the carpet there should be some wires going to the radio. Someday my connie will look as good as yours!

The radio foot control switch is available new through Macs. This was a common accessory on Fords also. Press the switch all the way down and it changes to the next preselected station .Press the switch part way down and the volume will decrease.
