Help identifying this 1934 Duesenberg

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

This photo was taken in October of 1983 at the Staten Island Region's 7th Annual Car Show. It's a 1934 Duesenberg Murphy Beverly Berline (or so the sign says), owned at the time by Joe Martin of New Jersey.

A former member of my region thinks it went on to the Imperial Palace after Joe owned it. Wherever it went, I'm sure the car was re-restored and repainted since then, so I'm hoping to match it up to its incarnation today. Does anyone know which car this is, and where it's currently located?

And yes, that's a second Duesenberg in the background, at the time owned by Bill Vaccaro of Staten Island. Happy to also find out any info about that one today (apparently went to England?)

Thanks for your insight,

Paul

Thanks to Chris Summers for his personal reply:

Hi Paul,

Thanks for sharing the picture. The Beverly Berline is J-468 which is, indeed, the car sold at Barrett-Jackson. The car in the background is Derham Tourster J-489 which is in the Haynes Motor Museum in England.

Best,

Chris S.
