Rear Seal Upgrade

Good Morning Everyone:

I am going to install the rope style rear crank seal in my V-12 rebuild project and I have a question:

I understand that the crank will need to be machined to remove one of the ribs for the old style slinger but what do I need to do to the pot metal upper and lower slinger housings in order to hold the rope seal in place where it belongs?

Believe Earle Brown sells a kit for doing this. The "slinger" on the crankshaft does need to be machined off. I am not a fan of this myself and have heard mixed results.

I have driven mine hard without issue...the slinger is ground off, the slinger insert is replaced with v-8 rope seal..

end of story..

So does anyone else know how I can make the retainers for the rope seal myself?

You need 19B -6336 lower retainer and 91A-6335 upper retainer . These are Flathead Ford retainers and are available through the vendors .
