39 LZ Paint Colors

Does anyone have information on the burgundy paint used on 1939 Zephyrs? I found a burgundy used on a 1964 mustang that looks very similar to the magazine ads, the paint chips at the paint store are really hard to visualize. Thanks

I think Dragon Red is the color . I will check to see if my friend still has the formula , we painted his Coupe that color.

Years ago I too had to pick a color close to maroon to paint my '46 sedan. Ended up with a mid 90's GM interior color minus the Red Poly.

Thanks Peecher , the 46 looks like the color I am interested in. Will wait on Flatcat for his information unless it,s lost. The 46 is a beauty hope mine turns out half as good. Thanks to both of you

I talked to him and we didn't have a formula. The underside of the cowl vent lid still had a good sample of what Dragon Red looked like so we had the paint supplier to match using the sample.
