TORQUE SECQUENCE FOR LINCOLN H- V12 CYLINDER HEADS

1941

Recommended Posts

I believe I have collected all Ford-Produced manuals on the Lincoln H V12 and

NONE have a torque sequence diagram .

Does anyone out there have such a thing?

I can find LOTS of them for the flathead V8.

Maybe a 1941 MOTOR manual?

I assume you start at the center and work outward to both ends.

Mike, like you I have never seen any published head tightening sequence fo the V12 in a Ford manual. Last year I believe Tom Overfield posted a fel-pro site that did indeed show a torquing sequence for them. Believe it was "Fel-pro torque specs guide"?

Also to clarify for others reading this thread now and in the far future, I'd recommend 3 passes in this sequence.

1st pass to 'snug' the nuts

2nd pass to torque to spec

3rd pass again torque to spec after first 50-100 miles or so.

Definitely would not recommend torquing #1 to spec then installign #2 and so on. Install all first, snug all, then torque all. Doesnt hurt to retorque after test drive or a month of driving - much as you would retorquing lug nuts on a wheel, but I know most dont follow that recommendation either.

In preparing to install the heads on my rebuilt V-12 , I just noticed that the sequence

diagram that I downloaded from the Fel-Pro site is not printed correctly ; the numbers

are upside-down, making it very confusing to torque the head bolts.

I have redone this diagram with the numbers "flipped" - MUCH SIMPLER!

.....and this time I spelled sequence correctly
