1941
TWO LONG bolts that with 7/16" heads that go though starter into mounting holes in oil pan.Be Very careful to hold entire unit together upon removal, as these bolts are allthat hold the assembly together. 1941
I should state that although this engine is going into my '41 Continental, it IS a 1942 Block with possibly anearlier or later oil pan . The starter MIGHT be different on a stock 1941 Lincoln.Mike Lynch

Do you think I could loosen them some just enuf to veg a flat file between the mating surfaces to improve grounding. ?
peecher
The starters attach the same way on all V12's. There is supposed to be a small bracket that attaches to a pan bolt that the inner/upper starter bolt goes thru. This is to stablize the starter. I think you'd have a little trouble working around the starter drive cleaning up the pan surface where the starter attaches if you try to do this with the loosened starter still in place ? By the way if you need that little bracket it's the same for a flathead Ford and available from someone like Mac's.
1941
THANK YOU Dee!You just solved a mystery for me. I've had this bracket sitting on my shop bench for a week, after I mounted the oil pan.NOW I KNOW WHERE IT GOES! Mike
