motoringicons
This 1956 Chevrolet bus was built by the Ward Bus body company on a long wheelbase, 1956 Chevrolet big truck chassis. It is powered by a 261 cid "Stovebolt" 6 engine coupled to a dual-range, hydra-matic transmission. The bus was built for the Boeing Aircraft Corporation's Wichita, Kansas factory and presumably used to haul employees and/or give tours through the facility. Boeing used the bus from 1956 until 1965 when it was sold to Kansas State University who owned it until about 2010. This bus is largely original and extremely solid throughout. Recently, it has been mechanically serviced including the brakes, electrical, full engine tune-up, newer radial tires, etc. It starts easily, runs strong and has been comfortably driven at 60 mph. Although the original mileage in unknown, it is likely to be low given the condition of the vehicle and because it was probably never used for anything other than on-site or on-campus trips. It can be used in its current condition or would be an excellent basis for a creative cosmetic restoration. What a great vehicle for tailgate parties, parades, publicity events or just taking friends and neighbors to dinner! Clear title.
