Electronic submission for newsletter evals

Recommended Posts

Are there any plans to allow newsletters submitted for evaluation to be sent electronically?

This is a trend that many organizations are adopting and with the costs involved with printing and mailing, it makes sense in these economically challenging times.

Not anytime soon, Ray.

Our committee members on average score around 30-40 newsletters each month. Flipping through newsletter pages for scoring proposes is pretty easy after some practice. Doing so with a PDF is near impossible. As an example, I am the Assistant VP of Web Sites, under Sharon Lee, so I also score AACA Region and Chapter Web Sites. This was my first year. I worked on my task my first night for 2 hours, and went to bed with severe eye strain and a headache. Believe me, it's not as easy as it sounds.

As for newsletters, most are 10-12 pages each, more than doubling the work involved with a web site. Personally I get about 110 newsletters a month, 10-15 a week. It takes a lot of time to handle the scoring.

I hope you now understand why we require mailed versions.

There's a lot to be said for a PRINTED newsletter.

Isn't it great, on a cool dark night, to curl up in a

favorite corner with some good reading material?

A warm dog and a crackling fireplace add to the atmosphere.

Besides, we strive for good publications--and good

quality printing and photography are part of striving for

excellence. Printing an electronic newsletter from a

home printer wouldn't give the same impression--

for judging or for enjoyment!

Now I need to go out and buy a dog--
