36 panel -- number on frame some place

OK I know the engine number was stamped on the frame at the LA plant when the build began. I'd sure like to find that location. I tried looking on the outside frame rails around the driver and passage sides where there is an upswing of the frame. That supposedly was where the 36 touring chassis were marked. But alas no such numbers on my panel at those locations. One would think the number would be where the body did not have to be removed to enable law enforcement to easily check it. So anyone with ideas please post them.

He is working on a very nice '36 humpback panel. LC I believe built in Los Angeles. Looks all original.

BTW, what model vehicle is the photo from you posted in #2?

It's a picture of a 33 DP that I'm putting together. It's an all stock, one owner. The options are dual side mount, luggage rack, radio, heater, and dual trumpet horns. We have several Hump Backs that I will find the numbers on the frames for toybox99615. I will have pictures of the 33 to follow later. Dave :cool: The #s on he frame and engine # are the same ( DP-52882 ) The #s in the r.h. door jam is 3625798.

Several Humpbacks! Now that is downright unfair or maybe unconstitutional. :rolleyes: Certainly illegal in most states.:cool:

I would really appreciate that photo and a description of where you found it.

We have 13 Humpbacks from 1933 to 1938 that range from 1/2 ton to 1 ton. Have a 1934 1ton ambulance humpback that is used in peradesand going to swap meets. Here are some pictures of the vin #s. Dave: Would you be able to give a year and model designation for each of the photos you showed here, numbers 1 - 7? That way us less educated guys would be able to relate the photo to a particular model and year.

Hi 1936 D2. I'm even less educated than you guys because i just walked into this recently. My best friend that owned this had past away. So i'm here helping his wife with this mess. So i'm in the LEARNING mode. I'll I.D. the stuff as i go along. So my background was the Muscle car years with my dad working at the GM Milford Mi. proving grounds. But i'm learning this stuff to the best i can. This AACA with most of the people on here have been a big help. Thanks Dave.:cool:

Well no luck with locating a number on the frame. I checked the left front frame area as shown in the photos and there was not the slightest indication of any numbers. I also checked the right side just in case. Based on a couple of the photos it appears the number could be behind the shock as it is mounted about the same location as the number in the photos. It might have been the frame was stamped before any parts like a shock were installed. I guess it is worth a look.

Dave I do apprentice your taking the time to assist me.

UPDATE: No number under the shocks. Good news is the shock came off easily and appears to have free movement. So a rebuild of that shock would be an easy thing by White Post.

Can anyone help Dave positively identify the year and/or model designation of the vehicles or frames in his post #6? Thanks!

Just for discussion sake may be Photo #2 is a '37 because of the beam axle and tubular shock?

And more possibility, Photo #3 may be an earlier model like a '33? It has a ladder shaped frame and is sitting on wire wheels.
