Mssr. Bwatoe
Normally, you grind off the center slinger vane and replace slinger with rope insert from ford for a positive modern type oil barrier Edited September 23, 2012 by Mssr. peecher
The dings should have no effect on the slinger seal set up. If you plan to use the rope type seal you will have to do as Jeff says and have the slinger vane ground off to provide a surface for the rope seal. The 2 halves of the slinger seal just provide a path for returing oil passing out the rear main into the oil pan.
1941
Thank you both for the quick replies. As I have no local machine shop to go with the rope-type seal, I will have to use the original method. Is there anyplace to get instructions for this seal?
