Dave Mellor NJ
I gleaned this ad for the first Hershey out of the summer 1954 issue of Antique Automobile. Previous years' shows were in Devon, Pa near Philly.

Seldenguy
That is when(1954) Harold Gilbert and his friend Walt Benedict were the among the first to sell old car parts from the trunk of their every day transportation autos. As I recall Harolds story there were only six vendors that first time. Harold hasn't been to Hershey in a few years, but at age 91 still vends out of his house. We all have seen a lot of Hershey changes since those days! " You've come a long way, baby"--Bob
Restorer32
Neat item. I have met at least 30 guys who claim their Father or friend was one of the first 6 Hershey vendors. Speaks to what an honor it is for those who fostered the early growth of this hobby.
1937hd45
Wonder how many people with a TOTALLY restored as new 1954 vehicle would think of driving it to Hershey in 2012? Bob
Terry Bond
Interesting thought Bob, I recall my first visits back in 1969/70. There was a lot of interesting stuff just in the parking lot that's on the showfield today. You bringing any old spark plugs for me to oogle over?Terry
