Guest Rob McDonald
You are one creative guy. No wonder Mom lets you monopolize her garage. I kind of see Mrs. Mike's point, that the spectacular paint should be front and centre, not the flashy wheels. How he got her to look at your pictures is something on which he should provide lessons to the rest of us. My Wifey otherwise understands me but she has no clue about this tragic automotive obsession.
MrEarl
Just catching this thread. Man THAT was a lot of work. Congrats on a great job. Love the colors and leaving the top white helped retain the period look just enough. My first car was a red and white '57 Chevy that I had painted 66 Riviera Gold. Again great job, you gotta be proud. And Mama too. I'm still undecided about the wheels and tires though. I'd like to see a photoshop of black walls with gold wheels and the dog dishes. But then again you need the white walls to balance out the white top. I don know....Kool amp too. Dude you're quite an artist

Guest dave_b63
Great car, nice work, FANTASTIC PHOTOS, and STUNNING paint job. Awesome. May want to add some skinny beauty rings to those beautiful red wheels and small hubcaps... the wheel set up is sweet now but the rings will make 'em pop even more.--Dave Edited February 20, 2013 by dave_b63 (see edit history)
avgwarhawk
I like the black rims . Need a picture with the hubcaps on. Rims in the same gold color would work also. The gold color sets you apart no doubt. You matched the dash in the same color. That's key. What is lurking under the hood?

My current '55 4dr came with the smaller dog dish covers, which I assumed came from a different car... but, after some inadvertent research, it looks like the dog dish were a factory option? jonahboo
yes my car had the full cover - i do not like them - so i acquired the other rims and clips and then the caps (which are near perfect)they used the same full covers i believe from 55-6 - i also got a clean set of '54's i toyed with installing those as wellcouple more pics:
Guest dave_b63
Yeah, those full covers, although still vintage and cool, cover too much wheel... did you get your bumpers re-chromed or did you just polish the heck out of them? The chrome looks great, especially set against that Riviera Gold (or whatever that color is). My guess is that you will be taking home some trophy metal from any show you put the car in. JohnD1956
Sure is a great looking car. The red wheels look better in my opinion and would look even nicer with the pan hub caps and a set of trim rims. Nonetheless, you did a fantastic job on this 55. Congratulations! jonahboo
how about a guitar to match?Fender MIM Telecaster Custom – Re-modelI had the MIM RI – quite honestly – the existing WRHB lacked Personality – however – I really liked the style and feel of the guitarAt the same time I was looking for a regular pick up tele config. So I decided to re-do the guitar I already hadI am more of a ‘stained’ guitar guy – but I had gotten this on trade a year ago and it was black – so doing a re-paint was not a big deal (scuff exiting finish – not down to bare wood)I already had some paint left over from my 55 Buick I painted last summer (I painted it in mom’s garage )I am a sucker for Bigsby’s – so I added a B5 “F” logo oneSo here are the modds:Bigsby GFS pick ups:Pure Vintage" Neovin Noiseless Tele PairH96 Mini Birds- Covered Mini Humbuckers- Warmoth Pickguard in white – without any pick up routs – ‘cuz deluxes come 1 of 3 ways (none, Gibson HB, and WRHB) – I chose none (btw – the screw holes do not align with existing MIM screw pattern – no biggieNew DZMarzio potsLottsa Routing and more routing to accommodate new lower switch, added 5th pot and new mini HBAfter paint it is key to rub out finish with wet sand (800 for runs, 1000, 1500 and 2000) – then Compound, Swirl remover, Glaze etcGold and white to match the Buick THIS PLUS THISEQUALS – THISBeforeAfterrouting
