Guest 36chev
Can anyone tell me what GM vehicles and years this spotlight will fit? It looks similar to the one listed as an accessory for the 1936 Chevy, but the 36 Chevy spotlight says S1 on the id tag and is called a sportlite I believe. On the tag of this one: GM SAFETYLIGHTPatent numbers: 1497896--1702722--1913075--1940348It uses a number 1133 bulb with a unique looking metal reflecting cover over the bulb. It is approximately 18" in length, including the handle. There is a toggle switch for the light and some sort of arm sticking up (can see in picture number 3) that I'm not sure what it does. The bakelite knob twists to rotate the lamp. Here are links to some pictures:Safetylight 1Safetylight 2Safetylight 3Safetylight 4Thanks for any help! drwatson
It's about 1931 Chevrolet and maybe a year or two later, Chev called their spotlights "SAFETYLIGHT" throughout the 30's and 40's. Although I notice "Sportlite" tag on the illustrations: Check "1931" below for awesome detail: 1931 Chevrolet Accessories Installation Filmstrip Edited March 8, 2012 by drwatson (see edit history)
Guest 36chev
drwatson,Thanks very much for the information and the link! I don't have my 1936 Chevy Accessories book handy, so didn't recall exactly. If anyone is interested, I do want to sell this spotlight. If so, send me a PM and we can discuss. Later on I might list in the Buy/Sell forum.
