I am wanting to try a restoration on the instrument panel for my 37 Pontiac, but just in case I mess it up, and things do not go as planned, I purchased an extra instrument panel, so my original will not be damaged. On the instrument panel, there is an indicator and a light bulb behind it to show when the bright lights are switched on. The color of this indicator is blue as you can see in the included photo. On the one I bought, it was basically in pieces, so I have to find something else to use. It appears to be some sort of plastic material that the light shines through from the light bulb behind it. The way it was originally mounted, it fit into the hole, with just a small amount sticking out the behind. Then, there was a small amount of glue that was used to hold it into place.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where I can find something like this, that can be cut to fit?

Thank you for any insight you can give me.

Jim

Actually shouldn't be a huge problem. Colored lens panel lights were/are very common in the world of industrial controls and electronics. Take a look at Newark Electronics on line catalog and I suspect you'll be able to nail something you can use. Manufacturer names that come to mind are Dialco, Dialight, Oak, and Chicago Miniature Lamp.

If you cannot find a blue lens but can find a clear one, there is lamp dye that you can use to color the bulb.

Good luck!
