Stephen Murphy
On a Dietrich-bodied model J Duesenberg, what is more likely, gloss or satin finish on the mahogany door caps, quarter trim and dash cap?
trimacar
I'd vote for gloss, for being original, but personal preference would be more of a natural look with the satin finish.I would think that the American designers were following the fit and finish of European cars at the time, just for reference, and most Rolls and such level cars I've seen had high gloss wood. Now let the real experts chime in...... West Peterson
Hi Stephen,I suspect a phone call to our friend Jeffo might get your the correct answer, but I think David Coco has already given it to you, except that personal preference would certainly have played into the original finish right from the get-go... the original owner. Or, more specific, the original person who ordered it (could have been ordered by a dealer).
