jeff_a
If someone has a space in the Red Field, could they set up a 10 x 10 canvas tent and drive tent stakes? Thank you!

Shop Rat
You must bring something like buckets with cement, large containers of some kind with water in them or something similar to weigh down the tent. A few years ago some strong winds came through and picked up tents that weren't sercured and it was not a good situation. Pretty scary actually. jeff_a
Thanks '37 and S.R.,I suspected the grass fields of old had been paved, but wasn't sure of this one. My 10" log-spike tent stakes would have probably held really well...they just would have wrecked the asphalt and made weeds come up! 5-gallon buckets full of water or concrete sound better. Shop Rat
Jeff, Check with a local restaurant and see if you can get your hands on some of those industrial size jugs that cooking oil comes in. They have handles that people tie the straps/cords to. And when they are done they just dump the water out and don't have to haul that home. huptoy
While you can not put holes for stakes, the poles can not sit directly on the asphalt. You must use a steel plate or something like a 2" by 6" by 6" block under the poles.
1937hd45
My 10x20 tarp has a Model T Ford cylinder head under every pole, it's worked great ever since the blacktop arrived. Piece of 3/4 plywood to keep from suffing the pavement and a quick adjust rope and I'm set up in quick time.
